Communication of the Hungarian Outdoor Media Association

Dear Partners,
Dear Colleagues,

The Hungarian Outdoor Media Association with this communication wants to dispel the misunderstandings and misinterpretations, which appeared in connection with modified traffic law. The press of the communication, the advertising, marketing and specialized press with their several situation assessment and analysis dealt with the impact of the law to the outdoor advertising, significantly distorted the real situation.

We reiterate that the amendment of the transport law does not affect to the possibility of outdoor advertising and its usual efficiency. Once the draft of the law and the later accepted text of the law became public, we encountered a number of guessing and incorrect interpretations. We would like to make clear that the law includes provisions in only one area regarding to the outdoor media industry that may affect a total of only 2% of the outdoor advertising equipments:

The law reinforces the Road Act of 1988, the rules relating to the installation in 50 to 100 meters from the road, relevant for placements of advertising tools outside of the residential areas. These tools do not belong to the classic tools of outdoor campaigns.

Overall, the amendment of the law may affect no more than 2 percent of the outdoor advertising equipments and the outdoor campaign activities of advertisers also won’t be affected.

Incase of any questions, please contact our Association, we are at your disposal.
